It's time to return control of our town back to the citizens
Transparency and Economic Development
As your Councilman, I will continue to strive to provide more transparency as it relates to town business and I will recruit industries to Batesburg-Leesville that pay competitive salaries. In the spirit of delivering good government I will:
· Broadcast Council meetings on Time Warner Channel 2 so that citizens can watch at their convenience the issues discussed and votes taken at council meetings
· Post the town’s check registry online so citizens can see every check that is cut. I believe in full disclosure of how tax-payer’s dollars are spent. Citizens will be able to logon to the town’s website and click on “check registry” and scroll through our monthly expenditures.
· Upgrade the town’s website so citizens can pay bills online. An online pay option will make it easier for citizens to pay their water bill and other fees by check, debit or credit card on the web.
· Post council documents online including:
§ Agendas
§ Minutes
§ Ordinances and
§ Resolutions
· Post the town’s budget online. We will provide a copy of the town’s budget on the website for all citizens to view. Interactive links and a budget narrative will help citizens better understand how their tax dollars are spent.
Jobs ... Jobs … Jobs!
As your Councilman, I will be the town’s number one Ambassador and I will work with the Town Manager to recruit major companies for our Industrial Park. I am committed marketing our unique community strengths to revitalize our downtown business districts. Over the next four years, I will focus like a laser-beam on strategies to bring well paying jobs to Batesburg-Leesville.
